I’m the Founder and Creative Director of Homopromo - a queer art initiative that harnesses the power of art to change the world through positive protest, an open invitation for artists to submit work in response to LBGTQ+ issues.
Artwork is exhibited and auctioned at one-off events with proceeds going to LGBTQ+ charities including Kaleidoscope Trust and Stonewall. So far we’ve raised over £4000.
I created something, energetic, impactful and unapologetic that also found a way to showcase the art itself.
I established Homopromo in 2014 in response to Russian anti gay laws prohibiting the “promotion of homosexuality.” I wanted to highlight this issue but crucially in a positive way....
...if Russia wouldn’t promote homosexuality then we would - by filling the world with queer art and raising money for gay rights charities in the process. ✊
